Back in San Francisco, Meghan has made landfall, settling into the the bedlam and chaos that is Haight-Ashbury during the Summer of Love. Crashing where she can, pimping stick incense and patchouli oil to earn enough pennies to keep herself fed, Meghan at fifteen is carving out a new life. But with autumn rains and thinning crowds, she remains like a hanger-on at a party that has run its course.
Enter Marty, artist and, more importantly, property owner, who becomes her first real friend and erstwhile protector. Meghan, enamoured of the music scene hooks up with another new friend, Kat. Together they navigate the wonders and dangers of the groupie life, while Marty’s patience begins to wear thin.
