Episode Eighteen

So, Francis begat Kelleher, and now Kelleher has begat Guero (I don’t know how to add the proper accent to the “u”). His introduction to to El Capitan, is perfunctory and brutal. He should carry no illusions about the assignment he has taken on. Then Guero descends deeper, physically and metaphorically, into the heart of the jungle.

In primitive conditions, Guero begins to find his way. His closest thing to a friend is Pepe, who shows him some of the basics of survival in the jungle. After his first action with his new team, a baptism in blood, Guero meets Duran, another lover of books, and a foil for Guero’s philosophical posturings.
