Episode Eight

After his beating, we catch up with Francis at Cape Cod Hospital, where his injuries are assessed, and he is sent home with some pain-killers and a fair-thee-well. When he goes back to school, he enjoys a brief period of notoriety, before disappearing back into the background. The memories linger, however, and Francis has become fearful.

To seek help he turns to Father Callahan, he of the swinging crucifix and the seagull metaphors, who promises to do what he can. All of which leads to Francis hooking up with Will Wannamaker, karate teacher and mentor to be. Innocence lost, perhaps, but a new Kelleher is beginning to emerge from the ashes of the old Francis.
