Hey, all! It’s your friendly neighborhood book blogger, Meg! I just wanted to say a few quick words about the review I published for today on When Dimple Met Rishi.
Normally, I like to talk about books I love (and, to be entirely honest, I love a lot of books). I like encouraging people to read awesome books and things that I enjoy. It feels good when someone, particularly a reluctant reader, comes back to me later and says they adored one of the books I recommended. It’s even better when they ask for more.
But this book is up for a Goodreads Award and has been on a lot of radars, so I feel like it’s important to talk about it…even if I didn’t like it much. At all. I think it currently scored the lowest on my rubric of any book I’ve reviewed so far.
I don’t want to shy away from reviewing and reporting on books I dislike because that, I feel, would be unfair. It’s awkward because as kids we’re all taught that adage, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” However, if someone’s looking for a book with a diverse cast and girls in STEM and everything…
Shy away from this one.
But! If you have any recommendations for me on those topics OR if you’d like me to review a book you’re curious about, shoot me an email! I’m always looking for new books, no matter how I feel about them after reading.
Have a great evening and a wonderful few days leading up to (American) Thanksgiving!
